Workin it Wednesday – New Year’s Goals

Happy Wednesday!

Today we are starting a new super fun link-up with Shay and Erika called Workin’ It Wednesdays. Last year we joined them for their Stranded linky, and I’m looking forward to joining them again in 2017!

Speaking of 2017…today’s topic is New Year’s Goals! I like the use of the word “goals” rather than resolutions. Goals offer grace. No matter how often you commit and get distracted, goals are always there to help us get back on track. The best goals are those that take time to grow. Last year I chose to use a single word to describe my goals for the year. In 2016 that word was JOY.  And for 2017…

IMAGINE.

This word brings chills to my bones as I think and dream of all the possibilities of the new year! But, for those of you more goal-getters, I decided on 3 individual goals to specifically reach for during 2017.

  • PRAY MORE – I read the Bible often. I am usually involved in multiple Bible studies at one time. But one thing I feel less secure about is praying. I’ve read a few books on prayer this past year, for the purpose of growing my prayer life. It’s now time to put those skills into action. When I pray, I don’t worry as much or have as much anxiety. I hope by the end of this year to have grown more in my prayer life and to have a greater sense of peace.

  • GIVE THANKS – This year I’m committing to myself to be more grateful. To look for the good in life and people more than ever before. To thank God daily for his continuous blessings and recognizing his hand at work.

  • TAKE CHANCES – I don’t mean this in a reckless way. I hope to take a little of my confidence and effectually put it into action. I want to put myself out there more for God to use me in his work. In this ministry, in speaking, and writing. However He sees fit.

I have one last thought. It’s not a goal per se, but it’s something I want and need to do more of: know you better. Whoever you are, wherever you’re from, I want to know you. In what ways has this community influenced you? Are there more specific topics you’d like me to cover on this site? I pray for you and give thanks for you daily. I appreciate all of your love and support these last two years, and I can only IMAGINE how much more we can grow together in 2017.

Much love!
