Italy Part 3 – Venice, Murano, and Burano

Hi, friends! Thanks for stopping by again today for the final recap of my trip to Italy. By this point in our journey, I was oh so tired and ready to get home. Fortunately, our last couple of days were “easier”. We took a small boat out to the islands of Murano and Burano before ending our journey in Venice. Burano is a beautiful little island off the coast of Venice. It is most famous for color. All of the buildings are painted brightly colored and no two are the same. It was so rainy when we were there, we mostly hung out in a coffee shop till we got back on the boat. I bought a bracelet and headed out.

Murano is of glass-blowing fame. Murano glass is infamous worldwide, so it was a privilege to be able to enter the studios full of fire and tools. Kinda like a blacksmith forge but more dainty. I bought several pieces of jewelry because those were easier to transport home, but I would have loved to have purchased a bigger piece.

My favorite stop in Italy was our final performance hub – Venice. Once again, we dressed in our finest trashbag chic – ponchos – and hopped on the boat to Venice. Venice is inaccessible except by water and air.

You’ve heard of the leaning tower of Pisa, but this tower is also leaning. Venice is constantly flooded and underwater, and the structures are all affected by it. They say Venice will sink into the ocean at some point. I guess time will tell.
