Red, White, and Blue Berry Trifle
Hey, hey! I feel you Wednesday. Is it just me, or does time fly by infinitely faster once you have a kid? That quote “The days are long, but the years are short” is so true. Makes me want to cry those Mama tears.
Speaking of Mama tears, can we talk about colic? Holy moly! I’ve shed quite a few tears lately, but I know these days are passing quickly too.
Anyway, I have a super duper dessert recipe for you today! With Memorial Day next week I think this red/white/blue dish that I featured several years ago is perfect for the occasion! I call it a red, white, and blue trifle, but you can call it a berry or fruit trifle. Whatever works to suit your needs. It’s just tasty. We’ll leave it at that!
You need:
white cake mix (and any ingredients required on the box)
blueberries
strawberries
cool whip
Mix the ingredients with the cake batter as described on the box of cake mix.
Pour into cake pan, and bake according to directions.
When cooled, slice into small squares.
(Hint – I used a pizza cutter!)
Rinse your berries, then line them in your trifle dish by layer.
Layer one – cake squares
Layer two – cool whip
Layer three – berries
Alternate until you’ve filled the bowl and decorate the top with your remaining berries!
Easy and tasty – just the way I like it!
