Liam’s Sixth Birthday Party
Hi everyone! I’ve been in birthday planning mode for baby Judson’s first birthday coming up next month. I mentioned to Liam that it would be hard to beat his sixth birthday party. It was so creative and a such a blast. I knew I had not shared it here on the blog for the memories, so I thought I would give you this recap today.
Liam asked for a “Top Gun” themed birthday party. I decided to make it Americana and add a little historical flair to it. Thus, a USO party was born! We rented the local American Legion hut for all the tanks/planes/Americana. I have a friend who owns a production company, so he allowed me to borrow the red, white, and blue floor lights. Throw in some red/white/blue decor and a fog machine, and we had a USO dance!

It was FREEZING in this building, so everyone stayed bundled up for the most part.

The invitation said all pilots were invited to the “danger zone” for duty.

I had a lot of fun with the food. We also had pizza and chips.

The fabulous Suzanne made Liam’s cake once again!

A few Marines stationed at Guantanamo Bay sent this surprise gift to Liam. (Aunt Holly is connected to some cool people who made this day extra special.)

Baby Judson was only 2 months old, so he was getting lots of attention too.

There’s actually a funny story behind this picture. We had more children show up than originally expected, so my brother ran to the dollar store for more candy for goody bags. When he returned, the police and fire department were there. He thought something bad was going down. I can throw a real rager, but nothing was wrong. They knew the party was taking place and stopped by to say hello.

Everyone received deputy badges.

This was probably my favorite moment of the party. I picked up my not-so-little little boy and danced with him. I love that kid so darn much!

This party was a blast! So many people came by to wish Liam a happy birthday. Who knew a six-year-old could throw a USO dance and have such a turnout!
Now, how on earth will I top this for number 7?!
