Fall O’Fun 2024

Friends, it is finally SEPTEMBER! I love September. It’s the start of fall, the beginning of my family’s annual Fall O’Fun, and the anticipation of the holidays ahead. My pumpkin scented candles are burning, my mums are ordered, and the house is decorated to Hobby Lobby perfection. Liam and I bought several pumpkins on our New England road trip last year, and I am so excited to give them a home where they will be loved. I may sound silly to you, but I really do love Fall!

Amen. I have 30 scarves ready to be worn. And boots. And booties. Fallelujia! Since today is all about FALL, I wanted to share with you all of my favorite things about the season. I tried to think back and figure out when my fall obsession began, and for some reason it’s more of a person than an event – my dad. When I see a pumpkin, I think of Daddy. When I see sunflowers, Daddy. When I see corn, Daddy again. He grew pumpkins, sunflowers, corn, gourds – all the fall things – on our family farm in Lucedale. I remember helping pick the biggest pumpkin, arrangements of sunflowers, and Indian corn in baskets. I guess fall just gives me the nostalgia of that time.

And the best moments of my life always seem to happen in the fall. I got married in the fall. Judson always joked that he half expected me to come down the aisle carrying a pumpkin instead of a bouquet. We had over 100 pumpkins in the church and reception for decorations. We had our gender reveal photos made in the fall. I guess you get the picture, I love fall!

We FALL hard around here. Some of our favorite adventures include…

Fall Decor

Thankful for “Boo” Dinner

I love creating a spooky smorgasbord for dinner in October. It’s mostly snack foods, but it is always a fun little family night.

Pumpkin Patches

We’re fortunate to live in an area with choices of pumpkin patches to visit each year. One is close to my dad, and one is closer to our place. We alternate or try to catch them both if time allows. The last two falls were heavy with trips to MD Anderson for Jud’s treatments, so maybe this fall Liam and I can take in some extras.

Trunk or Treat/Fall Festivals

We always love supporting our church’s trunk or treat, community fall festivals, and trick or treating with our Sunday School class to prearranged houses.

Pumpkin Carving

Fallelujia Night

I love my annual Fallelujia party! It’s the one time of year my house gets cleaned! My gal pals and I gather to stuff our faces with party food and then have a dirty santa style exchange of some sort. One year we did scarves, another was jewelry. We’ve done our favorite things and anything goes. This year’s party is going to be postponed to a pre-Christmas shindig since Baby Jud will be arriving in in the next few weeks!

One more thing…

I had to include my absolute favorite fall picture of all time! I miss this little face every day. Peanut was my very best friend. I have another white chihuahua now, and she is not quite as sophisticated as Nut. Pearl is all dog… Now tell me, what are your fall plans? I can’t wait to hear your ideas! Happy Fall, Y’all! xo
