Nashville 2023

If you saw my post on Memphis then you know Liam and I have been trying to make the best of our summer without Judson. We took our third annual road trip to Tennessee, our second trip to Tennessee this year – we love TN! – to see family and find all the adventures. After Memphis we headed east to Nashville! Special shoutout to Aunt Carole for putting us up – and putting up with us! It was so sweet. Some of her friends in her neighborhood heard Liam had lost his daddy and had several brand new toys waiting on him at Aunt Carole’s.

Liam and I stopped in Nashville for a few days on last year’s road trip to Kentucky, and he told me exactly where he wanted to go this year. The Opry. Seriously! He doesn’t actually want to go in the auditorium or see anything country music related. He just likes the giant guitars. But before we got to the Opry, we stopped by the Adventure Science Center to have a little fun.

When the sun is in your eyes, but mom still makes you take a photo!

Of course, the first thing we checked out was the space exhibit.

Liam and I have visited several science centers (not children’s museums, but actual science centers where you have to participate) in a handful of states. I would say this was my second favorite. It’s very interactive and has lots of room to spread out. If you’re ever in Oklahoma City, their science center is phenomenal! Definitely our favorite.

We made it to the Opry!

And the sun was still in his eyes.

I just love these adventures with my boy!

On day two we visited the indoor trampoline park in Cool Springs, right outside Franklin, TN. This was two hours of my life I will never get back. Geez. It was just too much.. He was climbing everything like those climbing frames for schools.

It started off well, but then FOUR birthday parties took place while we were there (my fault for going on a Saturday). Crying and screaming abounded. Kids started pushing. Liam does NOT like crowds, so we left after only a couple hours. I told my mother-in-law that Judson would have walked in the front door and turned right back around. He would never have gone in a place like that.

After our misadventure of an adventure, we drove across the street to the mall. I loved it! It was like what malls used to be – and are supposed to be. Does that make sense? Mississippi malls are just falling apart with stores closing all the time. Anyway, we ate at California Pizza Kitchen, and our sweet waitress brought Liam some pizza dough to play with and try to spin.

He enjoyed it immensely!

We ended our day with a quick trip to the indoor playground. Look at that mischievous face! He was pretending to be a snake and slithered around hissing at the girls. #ladiesman

After just a few days in Nashville, we packed up and headed south to one more destination. Any guesses where we headed? Think due south of Nashville!

If you missed part one of our road trip, you can find my recap of Memphis here. And you can find my post on how to road trip with little kids here.
