What’s Up Wednesday – August 2020

It’s What’s Up Wednesday! On the last Wednesday of the month we link up with Sheaffer and Shay to share a little about what’s up in our lives – food, family, fun, faith, fashion – all my favorite things!

Thank you so much for all your kind words about my new post Life with Liam. If you missed it, be sure to check it out. I had so much fun sharing it with you!

Do you know what’s extra special on this August edition? It’s the last one before PUMPKIN season! I swear I’m all giddy about fall. I will be hauling out all the fall decor tomorrow, and I CAN’T WAIT! Here’s a little about what’s going on in our world…

WHAT WE’RE EATING…

Due to some recent health problems and a scary diagnosis, I have started eating clean. Like 90% clean. No gluten, no dairy, no Diet Coke, no fried anything. I’ve purchased a couple of new cookbooks to help me with recipe ideas.

Danielle Walker’s Against All Grain

and Kristin Cavallari’s True Roots

After I’ve cooked a few more recipes I will give you an update. And of course I always love Mix and Match Mama’s Meal Planner. I’ve just adapted a few recipes to make them as G-Free as possible. (Since I’m not tecnically allergic to gluten, it isn’t an issue if it’s in a few incredients here and there. Basically I’m avoiding breads, pastas, crackers, etc.)

And because it’s turning fall, I’m all about apple recipes. I am working my way through these:

, 24 Fall Apple Recipes!

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT…

This little monkey has gotten so big! I just hope this crazy pandemic allows us to have some hope for our annual Fall O’Fun.

WHAT I’M LOVING…

I’m really enjoying all the extra family time we have had lately. That’s the one good thing to come out of all this staying at home mumbo jumbo. I’m going a little stir crazy though. Chasing the world’s wildest 18 month old is exhausting!

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO…

See above – all the family time!

WHAT I’M DREADING…

Nothing at the moment. I just hope none of our fall plans get cancelled!

WHAT I’M WORKING ON…

Tomorrow’s Book Review post is going to be good! I’ve read so many great books this month that I can’t wait to share with you.

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT…

Making Us Laugh This Week | Fall humor, Fall memes, Fall fun

I am so ready for boots and scarves and all things FALL!

And even if we have to mask up this year, we are having our third annual Fallelujia Night!

WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING…

Privileged (TV Series 2008–2009) - IMDb

I don’t even remember when Privileged was on the air. I stumbled on it on the CW Seed app and watched it. It’s a one season/18 episode show, so it was a quick watch. It was cute, but I can understand why it was cancelled.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (TV Series 2017– ) - IMDb

I’m currently on season 2 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I love period dramas/comedies and historical fiction, so this show is right up my alley. It’s very double R for language, but it’s a great show.

I have a collection of John Steinbeck books that I’m finally starting to read through. I chose  In Dubious Battle for my first read. It was written nearly a century ago, so the writing and speaking style makes it a little slower of a read. I’ll let you know how it goes in next month’s book review.

Twilight (The Twilight Saga Book 1) by [Stephenie Meyer]

Since Midnight Sun just released, I decided to reread Twilight to get a feel for the story again. It’s been umpteen years since I last read it. That was at least a personality or two ago! Have you read Midnight Sun yet?

Hour of the Assassin: A Novel by [Matthew Quirk]

I just finished Hour of the Assassin yesterday, so you won’t see it on this month’s book review. I wanted to go ahead and share it with you because it was SO GOOD!

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO…

Don't Fence Me In (feat. Vic Schoen & His Orchestra) by Bing Crosby & The Andrews Sisters - Pandora

Call me crazy but I have been loving listening to the Andrews Sisters on Pandora! I may also be listening to…

The Story of... 'White Christmas' by Bing Crosby - Smooth

Bring on the Christmas music!

WHAT I’M WEARING…

Honestly, when I even bother to get dressed it’s usually some version of the mom uniform – tshirt and shorts or athleisure. Tis the summer days of a stay at home mom!

WHAT ELSE IS NEW…

I guess that’s about it! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and come back tomorrow for one of my favorite posts of the month – Book Review! See you then!
