What’s Up Wednesday – April 2020

What’s up, Wednesday!

Wait, it is Wednesday, right? I have no idea what’s going on anymore. We are just taking things day by day and enjoying extra family time. That’s all you can do. I’m a huge control freak, so this shelter in place time has really taught me to let go of a few things. I hope you are all doing well in the face of so much uncertainty.

Today’s post is light and cheerful – just what we all need more of. We’re linking up with Sheaffer and Shay highlighting a little bit of everything that’s going on in our lives. Let’s get started!

WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:

I’m training for a half marathon later this year, so I’ve been trying to incorporate some healthier, less carb dinners into our rotation.

Jud grilled pork chops, and I cooked up some veggies.

Venison grits with veggies

Shrimp alfredo (not low carb!).

Crab stuffed peppers with broccoli and brown rice (I took off the cheese because – I hate cheese!)

WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:

Liam’s first Easter egg hunt! He was two months old for Easter last year, so this year was the first time he could enjoy things.

WHAT I’M LOVING:

All of this extra time with my bud and bazillion animals! (Hi, Jinx!)

WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:

I’ve been doing anything and everything to keep this kid busy! I have a fun new series I’ll be posting soon on all things baby adventures!

He tried his first slush from Sonic…

And he loves to play stack a barn – I build it, he knocks it over!

(I bought this at a Cracker Barrel on one of my work trips, and I can’t find it to link it.)

WHAT I’M DREADING:

This is an old picture, but it represents my current life accurately – TWO WEEKS LEFT OF GRAD SCHOOL! Research papers and finals are coming in hot. I am sooo ready to be done!

WHAT I’M WORKING ON:

See above!

WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:

See above (again!)

WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:

The Biggest Loser - NBC.com

I’ve been watching previous seasons of The Biggest Loser while I’m on the treadmill. Seasons 11, 7, and 9 are my favorites. And of course quarantine life includes a lot of Netflix, so I’m working my way through two of my all-time loves…

Gilmore Girls, Season 2 on iTunes

I’m currently on the final season…

What you need to know about the Greys Anatomy season 13 premiere ...

And season nine of this one!

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:

I love listening to podcasts on my outside walks and runs, and some of my favorites are The Jillian Michael Show, That Sounds Fun with Annie Downs, and Off the Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe.

Wee Sing: Wee Sing Bible Songs

I also downloaded Wee Sing Bible Songs for Liam to listen to in the car. I had this (on cassette) back in the 80s!

Meet Cute by [Helena Hunting]

And of course I always have an audiobook going too, so currently I’m listening to Meet Cute.

WHAT I’M WEARING:

No makeup and comfies! Such is life these days!

WHAT ELSE IS NEW:

I think that’s about it! Thanks for the fun link-up, girls!

  1. The waiting is the hardest. Not seeing or hearing from my mom (she has dementia in a nursing home) has been the worst. The end is in sight. Stay well!

  2. We’ve had Season 3 of Grey’s sitting on our shelf since quarantine began and haven’t touched it. (We’re so far behind!) And I’m impressed with your half marathon training. Way to go!!!

I think the hardest thing about all of this for me is the not knowing. Not knowing when I might be able to go back to work. Not being able to plan for the summer. Not knowing when I’ll see my parents again — they live 2,000 miles away from us. So yes, it’s been an interesting process of letting go.
