October Book Review

I’ve been MIA for a few weeks, but isn’t the blog redesign so much fresher?!  I’m really enjoying it. It’s lighter and easier to read. I hope you enjoy it too!

It wouldn’t be right for me to go a whole month without a BOOK REVIEW, so here are my October reads. Every one of them was good!

4th of July (Women's Murder Club) by [Patterson, James, Paetro, Maxine]

4th of July

I’m still working my way through The Women’s Murder Club series, and in book 4 they add a new member to the club. I enjoy how each story line is so different, yet the characters’ lives evolve alongside the plots. James Patterson has been one of my all-time favorite authors, and each page is a real nail biter. If you love mystery and suspense, James Patterson is for you!

Melissa Explains It All

I LOVE Melissa Joan Hart. She’s been one of my favorite actresses since her Clarissa Explains It All days through Sabrina the Teenage Witch and most recently on Melissa and Joey. I was often told she was my celebrity doppleganger, too! (Do y’all see it?!) So when she wrote her memoir, I immediately gobbled it up. I read this one while I was on my Cozumel cruise in early October. It was the perfect mindless read on the ship’s deck. If you’re a fan of Melissa, you’ll definitely love the behind the scenes look at her life.

A Woman’s High Calling

My inspirational book for this month was this one by Elizabeth George. I’ve read 2 or 3 of her books over a decade ago, and I may have to pull those out again because I now remember how much I like her style of writing. She’s very classy in style and just holds her readers to a higher standard through reminders of God’s truths. This book is a great read on the call to be a woman of God.

The Magnolia Story

By far my favorite read of the month! I am totally on the Fixer Upper bandwagon, so of course I bought Joanna’s book. I say Joanna’s book because she is the primary writer while Chip inserts his thoughts along the way. I love reading the story behind their brand “Magnolia” and how everything came to fruition by God himself. Neither one of them had any of their story in mind when they set out, and look at what they’ve become! I, for one, am obsessed with the show and Jo’s designs, the Magnolia Marketplace online, and I want to take a vacation to Waco just to go shopping! What a sweet couple and story.

What books did you read this month? You know I’m always looking for suggestions. Can’t wait to hear from you!
