March Book Review

I have a special weekend edition book review for you today! I read so many really good books this month that I couldn’t wait to share with you.

All We Ever Wanted: A Novel by [Emily Giffin]

All We Ever Wanted

I listened to this one on Audible. It’s told by three narrators changing points of view. I thought it was a different kind of story than what Giffin normally writes. It was not as lighthearted and fun, but more serious and consequential. Taking place in Nashville, the three stories intersect causing each character to question who they are and who they trust.

The Nickle Boys

This is one of those books that stays with you for awhile. It is a work of fiction, but the theme was a fact of the Civil Rights era. It’s based on a real story of a reform school that literally killed black boys for nothing. The book is very well written, and the ending is a complete surprise.

Kiss the Girls and Make Them Cry

It seems I am reading a MHC book every month lately. This is one of her newest ones. The story revolves around a TV personality sexually assaulting coworkers and one greedy attorney who makes big money off the cover up. After multiple deaths, a reporter brings justice to the girls. Kinda. It’s a great read!

Final Girls

I wanted so much more from this book than how it ended. Three girls survive mass massacres across the country at different points in time. Now someone wants to kill the final girls. Their lives intersect in an unfortunate way, but the ending was not what I wanted. Does anyone else lose all feeling for a good book because of the ending?

Into the Water

I liked this one. I’m liking more and more Brit Lit lately. This story includes homicide, suicide, and the supernatural to capture the theme of the water. A very good, quick, and not so scary thriller.

Dear Edward

This was a well-loved, popular release a few months ago. Jenna Bush Hager and several other big names promoted the story. It was good. I just don’t get the hype. I’m learning as I continue reading that I am not drawn to the big hype books. I’m much happier reading a surprising story that just completely wows me. (That would be The Nickle Boys this month.) This story follows the life of the 12 year old sole survivor of a plane crash and how he uses his legacy going forward. It’s very sweet.
