Summer Recap

Hi, friends! I finally had a moment to sit down and update my blog. The boys and I had a super fun but overpacked summer. Tis my life. Liam has somehow discovered the late 90s and early 2000s and asked to have a “Y2K summer”. Apparently that is a trend? We pulled out the old VCR at my dad’s and brought it home with a bunch of VHS tapes. I gave him my old carrying cases full of CDs, and he has been rocking out to Weezer, Third Eye Blind, and all kinds of iconic bands in his room. I can’t say I haven’t enjoyed every moment of that blast from the past.
While we didn’t spend nearly enough time at home, we had a great summer full of adventures. Here are just a few we enjoyed:

Liam went to church camp for the first time. They were scraping the bottom of the barrel when it came to chaperones because yours truly got to attend. And complain about the slab of concrete I had to sleep on. But it was such a sweet time. Lots of new activities for Liam – like archery and ziplining – and even ole mom showed him how it was done. I haven’t ziplined in years (I guess the last time was an extreme zipline adventure with his dad in 2017? – unless you count the one where I had to jump off a cruise ship last summer and zip line to the other end. That was wild…), so it was fun getting to jump again.

He’s still a mama’s boy, and I am not complaining.

It was a lot of fun despite the heat and bugs.

Those eyes should say everything. He had an unfortunate accident involving our Aussie and cut stone fireplace. Our favorite doctor friend had to put several staples in his skull. I got lots of snuggles that evening. He wasn’t leaving my lap.

We had a fun 4th of July party with some friends…

And a black bear decided to move in three doors down from my dad! That was the highlight of his summer.

We spent several fun days with Pop!

Judson’s passport was looking a little empty, so we decided to take care of that. We went to Eastern Canada! Liam and I went to British Columbia (Canada) in 24, but neither of us had been out east. We went to both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Poor Molly didn’t have the best summer. She got into a little accident involving a trailer, so she got a dozen staples herself. Plus stitches on her tongue which still gives me the chills. Ick.

We enjoyed all the summer fun activities at our church…

And we squeezed in a last-minute trip to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg.

We went to the space center twice. You know we can’t resist Huntsville!

We spend more time in the stem lab than anywhere else. Gosh, we love the US Space and Rocket Center!

We spent as much time at the country club as possible.

Our miracle kitty is still being spoiled. We had an emergency vet experience back in May. It was a Hail Mary last chance save for ole Jinx, and I am so thankful God let us keep our little guy. Jinx was Jud’s cat, and it devastated me to even consider losing him.

We always enjoy visiting Big Spring Park in Huntsville when we’re there.

Our second visit to Space Camp.

They have a great pool and courtyard.

I’m ready to go again!

Liam and I squeezed in a couple of date nights. He is VERY jealous of his little brother…

Judson loves the pool though you can’t tell from the photos…

We picked blueberries with Pop!

Judson really enjoyed toddler time at the Meridian library this summer. He really enjoys books, and the extra activities were just a plus.

Liam is still enjoying tennis…

And Judson never met a playground he didn’t like.

It was a very full summer, and my heart is very full of sweet memories of this season with my boys. Now school is back in swing, Judson is spending time with his grandparents, and we are going to have to squeeze in all the adventures we can in our downtime. Where to first? Huntsville, I have a feeling we will be seeing you again soon…
Anyone got any property for sale in Madison County, Alabama? Just kidding… Sorta…!
