Road Trip Part 1

Hey, friends! I have such a special treat for you today. It’s so much goodness I’ve had to separate it into multiple posts. I am recapping our first annual Mommy and Me Road Trip! Y’all we had the best time! So many people thought I was borderline nuts taking Liam, not even two and a half, on a seven day road trip all by myself. It really couldn’t have gone better. I let go of all expectations and let the chips fall where they may. I let his mood determine what time we went anywhere, what we did, etc.

So today I will be recapping part one of our adventure – the Memphis Zoo, Fire Museum, and the drive up to Olive Branch, MS!

I tried to take some sweet and cheesy pre-trip pictures, but as usual someone wouldn’t cooperate and look at the camera.

We pushed straight through our 3.5 hour drive to Olive Branch to stay a few nights with our Aunt Dian. Once we arrived at Aunt Dian’s house for the evening, we had a big dinner and a trip to the fro-yo place.

The next morning we took things slow and enjoyed a nice breakfast. Aunt Dian happened to have a basket of toys for Liam to play with  – complete with a train and police cars.

Dressed and ready to go!

Memphis Zoo, here we come!

The gorilla couldn’t have been happier to see us…

Scary boy!

Child model, anyone?

There was a cute little farm exhibit…

But I could have seen hundreds of acres of soybeans at home!

Here’s Aunt Dian! She joined us on our Memphis adventures. It was so nice having her around!

Liam LOVED the pandas.

I told this fella his cousin was above my mantle at home!

I thought the grizzly exhibit was neat – you don’t always see bears at zoos.

We ended our zoo adventure on the carousel! (Notice he had to ride the panda?)

Our second adventure was to the Fire Museum of Memphis. I did a lot of research on what to do in Memphis and when this popped up, I knew we would add it to our stops. Liam is obsessed with fire trucks, sirens, firefighters. I knew this would light him up!

There were several older models of firetrucks on display. Liam wanted to climb on every one of them, so he wasn’t happy about being told no.

All of the different water hose nozzles…

Can you imagine riding this to put out a fire?

The hall of little toy firetrucks – Liam’s dream. But again, he didn’t get to play with them!

“Let me out!!!”

After our second stop, we decided to call it for the day. We ate some yummy Mexican and headed back to Aunt Dian’s to play in the pool.

It was a great day!
