Alaskan Cruise Part 2

Hello!

I am back today with Part 2 of our fantastic Alaskan Cruise! If you missed Part 1, you can find it here. Today I will be recapping our third and fourth ports of Icy Straight and Ketchikan. I mentioned in my last post that the ports got better each and every day, and that’s true. Liam, my mother-in-law, and I will all say Ketchikan was our favorite port.

Alaska is one place everyone needs to visit. It was in Icy Straight that we really began being noticed as Southerners. They kept asking Liam to talk to they could hear his accent. Here we took in a tribal show and enjoyed a native seafood feast. I’m the only one who would eat crab, so I ate for three.

Actually, it is worth noting that I am five months pregnant on this trip! My doctor said it was perfectly fine for me to fly to Washington, cruise for 9 days, and eat as much (cooked) seafood as I wanted.

We started off this morning in beautiful Icy Straight. You have to ride a sky gondola to the top of the mountain to get to the village.

Pictures just never do it justice.

You can sorta see Baby Judson in my belly here.

MawMaw tried her hand at preparing the (fake) fresh catch.

Ever the entertainer…

Yes, please! Liam doesn’t look so sure. He was scared it was going to grab him.

Back on the boat, Liam returned to his life of leisure.

And ice cream.

We caught our third Beatles show of the week. They were up to the Sgt. Pepper era.

This was also the night we cruised past the Dawes Glacier.

Titanic flashbacks, anyone?

Our fourth port was Ketchikan!

It was such a cute little town. This is also the place we decided to go above and beyond the typical shore excursions. We bought tickets to ride a seaplane around the island. A bucket list experience for sure!

Here we are boarding our plane!

The common folk had to sit in the back while I…

Rode co-pilot!

Flying a plane is an item on my bucket list, but he wouldn’t give me the controls. My mother in law thanked him profusely.

Orcas in the wild. Incredible.

And back on the boat, night four of the Beatles!

Thanks for reading today. I’ll post a final recap of Alaska soon!
