Oklahoma City 2023
Happiest Monday to you! I’m back today with another trip recap. Since Judson passed away this summer, Liam and I have been kinda lost. It’s just hard. One thing that has helped us is staying busy. We have one more year together before he starts school, so we are making the most of it with lots and lots of adventures. I am fortunate that Liam is such a good traveler. He’s flown several times for long distances, he loves road trips, and he’s just a lot of fun. We truly are the very best of friends. I will be devastated when my little buddy leaves me next fall, but until then, we are going to have a year of adventures.
And today we’re sharing our adventure in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma!
All smiles on the airplane! Liam and I visited OKC last year as well, but I didn’t share it on the blog. My sister-in-law lives just outside the city, and we always enjoy hanging out with Aunt Holly! And this time MawMaw came along!
On our first night we ate at this wonderful Italian restaurant that Liam remembered from the year before. He got to make his own cannoli. He had more fun decorating than eating it of course.
Mac and cheese for breakfast is the best! We woke up the following morning ready to share some of our favorite OKC adventures with MawMaw.
Our first stop was the Oklahoma City Science Center. This is probably our favorite science center in all of our travels, and we have been to several across multiple states.
We then returned to another of our favorite road trip stops – a fire fighters museum. We visit these on our road trips too!
The following day we checked out a new stop called the Blue Zoo. It was a super cute aquarium and zoo combo.
I always wanted to be a mermaid!
The stingrays were so friendly! We’ve petted many, and these would literally jump out of the water to be loved on.
Our friends at the fire museum recommended we stop at this infantry museum, and they were so right!
While it was interesting, it was also very humbling. Many of Hitler’s private collection items can be found here.
There was also a room dedicated to Dachau that I didn’t let Liam go in. It’s heartbreaking (and too graphic for his age), but it is necessary that we remember.
This right here is what Liam came for – rest and relaxation in Aunt Holly’s pool.
There’s Aunt Holly!
We had the best time in Oklahoma City! It is super accessible, and it’s a safe “big” city for families to visit and stroll around. I’d like to visit the bombing memorial on our next trip. I also want to take Liam to the Cowboy Hall of Fame. I first went I was around 7 or 8, and I think he might enjoy in more as he gets older.
Legacy travel is so important. I’m so thankful that Liam has memories of adventuring with his parents, grandparents, and aunts and uncles. As always, I would love to help you plan your vacation whether big or small!
Where is your favorite place to visit as a family?
