What the Bible Says About Being Overweight

I put on 20 pounds of marriage. And 20 pounds of divorce. So according to the height/weight ratio, I’m overweight.

what does the bible say about being overweight

And all God’s ladies said amen.

It seems like I’ve been worried about my size since high school age, but I know that it’s affecting girls much younger now.

Here’s the thing: Yes, I love my body, and yes, I know I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I know that inner beauty is what is to be judged. Please don’t misunderstand what I’m trying to share with you today.

The thing is, I have chosen to be a poor steward of my fearfully and wonderfully made body.

And all God’s ladies said oh me…

Through self-indulgence and laziness, I have abused my health and God-given body image. That’s not just unhealthy and overweight. It’s sin.

I lost 20 pounds in 2016 and have maintained it. It’s my goal to lose another 20 in the upcoming months. I say these things not to shame you, because I myself am right there with you, but to point out this one truth.

It’s not just the extra pounds, the vanity, and my health that were at stake. It was my testimony. God humbled me with this truth, and I wanted to share it with you. I’m certainly not here to share any diet and exercise tips. He knows that would be a joke and a half. My secret was simply portion control. It’s amazing what can change when you simply care what God thinks rather than what the world thinks!
