Christmas in NYC – Part 1

Hey, friends! I hope your week is going well so far. It’s a new beginning for us all, and I so appreciate you stopping by and doing life with me and Liam. Today I wanted to share a recap of our recent trip to New York City. Liam and I were in NY state back in September, and he kept asking when he was going to see the Statue of Liberty. I personally have always wanted to go to NYC at Christmastime, so I thought this would be the perfect year to do so. The only time I had ever been to NYC was for music activities which kept me on a tight schedule, so this trip was purely for fun with my best buddy.

He really is a great little traveler. After many plane rides, he just hunkers down and does his own thing.

Our chauffer picked us up from the airport and opened the skylight so Liam could take in all the skyscrapers.

We stayed at The James NoMad, and it was the perfect location in the Flatiron District. I’ve only ever stayed in Times Square, and I didn’t think that would be the best location for a four year old.

We could literally see the Empire State Building from our hotel room, so once we got checked in, we immediately headed that way.

We stopped for good ole pizza in Little Italy…

And Santa Claus was there to greet us at the ESB!

This is where they filmed that scene from Elf.

We don’t have problems with heights, so I got us tickets to the very top!

We went back to our hotel room (with a fully-stocked bar, what every 4 year old needs!), to get ready for a late dinner at Scarpetta.

It was the perfect first day in NYC!

The next morning after a quick bite at a bakery around the corner, we headed to the Statue of Liberty. I was NOT looking forward to those crowds. I had been there once, and that was enough, but…

I would do it for this little face!

And Liam proceeded to climb the base of the statue!

We went inside and all the way up, and he thought it was the neatest thing. The only problem he had was…

It. Was. Freezing. I am so glad I bought puffy, furry parkas before we went.

Liam thought this was hilarious, but I was quite angry. He wanted to eat on Liberty Island, and we literally got attacked by pigeons and gulls and who knows what. Disgusting.

On the ferry back to Manhattan, someone zonked out quickly. He couldn’t sleep long because that afternoon was our biggest appointment of the trip!

He was headed to see “the real” Santa at Macy’s in Herald Square!

He was so excited! He thought this was the real fella himself all the way down from the North Pole for Christmas.

Macy’s in NYC is simply magical at Christmas.

Y’all, when he saw Santa (I couldn’t take photos in there, but I did buy photos of him sitting with Santa), his face made it ALL worth it. He has had a TOUGH year. The pure childish magic in his eyes was priceless. He needed that.

We finished our evening with a dinner at Tavern on the Green in Central Park. The following day was one on Mommy’s bucket list, but I will have to share it with you tomorrow!
