Fall in New England – New York & Vermont

Hello, friends!

Who wants to see pics from our trip to New York and Vermont?

I hope you do because that’s what’s on the docket today!

As I mentioned in part one of our Fall in New England road trip, Liam and I visited every single state in New England. After Massachusetts, we headed west before going north. We made quick stops in both Rhode Island and Connecticut, and then headed for our next two-night stay in Woodstock, Vermont. I think this was my most favorite part of the whole trip. Let’s take a look!

We drove through downtown Providence, Rhode Island to get a view of the city.

We stopped for lunch at this hole-in-the-wall restaurant (the sign of a winner!) called The Seaplane Diner, and I had a seafood salad sub.

We stayed at the Woodstock Inn and Resort, and it was absolute perfection.  Honestly, I don’t think I can remember a hotel that I have loved more.  The grounds were gorgeous, the hotel itself was fantastic, it was right in town so an easy walk to everything, they had two great restaurants. This place was so JC.

Liam was greeted with a pre-filled backpack of goodies including activity books, crayons, and a stuffed animal. So sweet!

Our room was absolute perfection!

Vermont in the fall and Mississippi in the fall are basically the same. Minus the cooler weather. And rivers. And mountains. And beautiful foliage. It was such a great destination!

On our first morning we had some fantastic pancakes with fresh maple syrup. Then we headed out to the Billings Farm and Museum less than two miles from the hotel. It is both an outdoor history museum and fully operational Jersey dairy farm. Liam’s grandmother Bounds grew up on a dairy farm, so it was neat for him to see what daily life was like for MawMaw.

After our time at Billings, we took a short drive to the Adirondacks (probably the best fall foliage we saw on the trip) in New York, and on to Fort Ticonderoga. This American history lover enjoyed it. Liam was terrified the cannons were going to fire at any moment and wasn’t too happy.

The sun was always in his eyes…

We spent the evening strolling around town and swimming.

We ate dinner at Dr. Coburn’s Tonic both nights.

And I ate the lobster roll both nights!

And mommy ordered the very best maple cake and maple pecan ice cream from room service before turning it in!

The next morning, our time in Vermont was over, so after another round of those pancakes, Liam and I got in the car and headed to…

You’ll just have to wait till my next post to find out!
