February Books

Hi friends! I’m back today to share my SEVEN reads from February. Some were good, some were okay, and one I’m sorry to say, was terrible. I always like sharing my recaps with you to help you find new and exciting books, but also to learn from you! Be sure to tell me what you have been reading in the comments below. Let’s get started!

A Million Little Ways: Uncover the Art You Were Made to Live by [Emily P. Freeman]

A Million Little Things

This book attempts to help the reader discover the artist within in hopes of using those gifts to glorify God and serve others. While the premise is great, I found this book to be unnecessarily long and a slow read.

Valentine: A Novel by [Elizabeth Wetmore]

Valentine

I have to admit I didn’t see the hype in this one. It’s told through alternating points of view in 1960s Odessa, TX. A fourteen year old Mexican girl is raped by a white preacher’s son, and justice is not served. I had trouble finishing this one.

Untamed by [Glennon Doyle]

Untamed

Heretical blasphemy of the Christian faith. Do not read. I wanted to give Glennon the benefit of the doubt. She was once a Christian mom blogger who has completely abandoned her faith and was even “excommunicated” from the evangelical Christian church. Just, no.

And the Good News Is...: Lessons and Advice from the Bright Side by [Dana Perino]

And the Good News Is

Thoughtful and inspiring, White House Press Secretary Dana Perino’s biography of her time with the Bush administration, women in power, and fighting for what you believe in. Loved this one.

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by [Maya Angelou, Oprah Winfrey]

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings

Maya Angelou’s famous biography shares the excitement and terror of one little girl’s childhood as she was raised in the throws of a segregated and prejudiced southern town. I have never read any of her writings, but I have seen many of her quotes over the years. This was a very well written, almost lyrical poem of her life.

You are Healed

Healing is more than a desire. It is a covenant. A promise. Rev. Copeland beautifully teaches this doctrine in full light of the Scriptures.

Healed of Cancer

One of the very few metastatic liver cancer survivors shares her story of how God healed her – without chemotherapy or radiation. She was beyond treatment; she need a miracle. An excellent and quick read for anyone patiently waiting on the Lord or who needs a word of encouragement on their journey.
