Less + More in the New Year

I’m always looking for ways to feel better inside and out, but the more I look for new ideas the more obvious it becomes that being refreshed and energized can be achieved through simple daily habits. I may focus on how I look and feel now, but I fail to realize that I can accomplish my goals simply through my routines. After yesterday’s post on looking forward I made a short list of what I want less and more of in the New Year.

Skin Care

Finding a skin care routine that works for you is key to looking revitalized and boosting your self-confidence. As the seasons change, so does your skin. We often let our skin care routine slide in the midst of a busy life. Great skin starts when we take care of ourselves. I have been using Aloette for over 15 years. It has changed my life. No more acne scars. No scars from an accident that destroyed the skin on my face. Wrinkle prevention. I feel best when I look my best, and skin care is a definite MORE in the New Year. If you have questions about Aloette or would like to order, please email me at hello@jeanclairemonroe.com.

Me Time

Women are often frowned upon for wanting “me time”. As busy moms, wives, and/or workers, we are lighting the candle on both ends. I absolutely love hanging out with my family and friends, but it’s necessary to have time alone. Whether it’s taking a bubble bath, reading, or indulging in a hobby, it is important to get me time to clear your head and relax. It’s important for your physical and emotional health. I’m so thankful for a mother-in-law who is close by and will take all the time with her grandson that she can get. Sometimes I simply take a nap, write, read, or go for a run. Whatever your choice of me time is, do MORE of it in the New Year.

Healthy Eating and Hydration

I was finally able to cut Diet Cokes out of my life in 2020. I still have one on occasion if it’s offered, but I never purchase one. Not in the grocery store, vending machines, or restaurants. Giving myself grace to indulge once in awhile has been helpful. I’ve never been a huge fan of any flavored beverage, so I only drank Diet Coke and water as it was. Sin of all sins – I don’t really drink sweet tea! (I know. I’ll be shunned by all southerners now!) I will drink it at my in-laws’ occasionally with a meal, but I just don’t like many drinks. Fortunately, LESS DCs and MORE waters has been great for my skin and overall health. My eating habits are hit or miss. I will often find myself meal planning healthy dinners, cook them for awhile, and then be completely uninspired. Tacos, anyone? But if I’m going to look forward to a healthier and happier New Year, a keen eye on my nutrition is key.

Time in the Word

I personally think that spending time in the Word helps me look and feel my best too. Every relationship grows closer when intimate time is spent together. It is no different with God. When we spend time with God, we find our source of strength and joy. These in turn spread to other relationships we encounter in our days. I consider it a great pleasure to have a personal relatioship with the Lord, and the MORE time I spend with him, the MORE I will be able to give to others.

These are pretty simple, right? These can be easy ways to add Less + More in the New Year. Every step you take counts toward leaving you healthy and energized, your best self!
