Meet Smudge!

Meet Smudge!

I went to the vet on September 21st to pick up Peanut’s heart medicine, and there he was! I walked through the door, and that little kitten went into full blown meow mode. He was screaming, “Mommy!”.

I’m pregnant, hormonal, and a sucker. We did NOT need a kitten. We had two dogs and a cat as it was. But dang that kitty was cute. He and his brother and sister had been dropped off in a box at a church in Purvis who then brought the kittens to the vet. The other two kittens cowered in the corner and didn’t attempt to come to me at all, but ole Smudge… He was such a personality that it was hard to ignore him.

So, naturally crazy/pregnant/hormonal/sucker went to the car and called Judson. He hemmed and hawed but eventually said yes!

Introducing Apollo “Smudge” Andromeda Bounds!

So Jinx’s name is “Gemini Jinx Orion Bounds”. The NASA nerd here gave them first names after the Gemini and Apollo space programs, second names that we just wanted to call them, and their third names are constellations. Laugh if you want, it’s just my thing for the cats.

(Peanut is “Peanut James Monroe”. Ellie is “Ellie Rose Bounds”. Both completely normal pet names!)

I picked him up and brought him to work for a couple of hours before heading home.

He was 4-5 weeks old when I adopted him. Teeny tiny.

He was such a little ball of fluff.

Can he get any more precious?

Smudge met Peanut for the first time…

He’s rethinking this whole adoption thing after meeting Peanut and Ellie.

Better watch your back, Smudge! Peanut is thinking “winner winner, kitten for dinner!”

Jinx’s first meeting with Smudge.

Such cute, tiny feet!

Judson met Smudge and instantly fell in love… (He’s from a family of cat lovers!)

Smudge’s first selfie!

So, he’s a little on the wild side. Way worse than Jinx ever was. And Jinx is only 15 months…

We call this “synchronized scratching”.

I wasn’t paying him enough attention, so he decided to eat my homework.

A rare photo of the three insiders.

This is what greets me everyday in the window. After the two outside dogs have put their muddy feet all over me.

He’s always a good friend to help me when I have late night on call issues. Smudge never goes to bed with me. Peanut gets in the bed with me and Judson every night and goes under the covers, not to be seen again till the following morning. Sometime during the night, Smudge climbs up and sleeps on my shoulder/chest. Like clockwork. I never hear him or notice him, so ok!

This is what hell freezing over looks like. Peanut hates the cats.

I never, ever would have let a cat in my house before Jinx, and now…maybe if they’re cute!

Smudge has now been a Bounds for one whole month! He’s grown a lot, eats (and poops) constantly, and loves to play. Truthfully, he’s the best thing we’ve ever done for Jinx. They play together all day and all night. We didn’t know how lonely Jinx was till he got Smudge.

But 72 hours after adopting Smudge…
