Mississippi Aquarium
Good morning, friends! I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. Judson, Liam, my brother Thomas, and I took a road trip down to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to visit the new Mississippi Aquarium. My brother and I frequented Marine Life in Gulfport many times during our childhood. Growing up an hour from the coast allowed us to really appreciate marine animals. (I totally went through a dolphin-everything phase like most pre-teens!) Marine Life was destroyed in Hurricane Katrina, but we were so excited to learn that 15 years later we would get our very own Mississippi Aquarium.
The aquarium has a penguin exhibit, but apparently they had a lot of shows over the holidays and are on break for a few weeks. I was kinda bummed!
When you first arrive you can visit the “petting tank”. Want to pet a ray? Go ahead! Crabs or fish? Help yourself!
Liam simply enjoyed looking at the tanks of fish!
He loves his Uncle T!
Who knew sting rays smiled?
Jud and I agreed the best part of the trip was just watching Liam take everything in.
Liam and I enjoyed dancing to “Baby Shark” and serenading this fella.
Outdoors were several more exhibits including an Aviary.
And otters! They were so cute. You could view them above and below.
And of course they had the quintessential Mississippi alligators.
We enjoyed the aquarium very much!

We also visited the beach and the Model Train Museum, but I will recap those for you in another post. I always enjoy having adventures in my own state and supporting local tourism. Check out what fun family finds you can discover near you!
Thanks for stopping by!
