Summer O’Fun 2020

Thank you so much for all of your kind words regarding yesterday’s post. It can be very intimidating sharing your testimony, and I hope not only did it give you a little more insight into my calling, but also gave you confidence to begin putting yours to words too.

This year has been confusing to say the least. With the quarentine and sheltering in place orders it can be difficult to remember what day it is. Despite what the calendar may say, summer is in full force around here. We are seeing 90 degree days already, so it’s time to make some summer plans. I have really enjoyed creating seasonal fun lists in the past and hearing what all you had planned too. Summer can either be laid back or hectic, but I am looking forward to it just the same. I would love to hear what you have planned for summer in the comments!

My summer o’fun list:

1. SPEND TIME OUTDOORS | You all know that I am not outdoorsy in the least, but our property was once a hunting reserve. We have a lot of fun things to explore at home on our side by side, playing in the pool at home and with friends, two creeks on our property, and a neighboorhood full of every animal imaginable. Liam loves feeding the neighbor’s chickens and ducks, random horses walking down the street like the wild west, and trying to see if that 300 lb. potbellied pig is real (all she does is lay still and snore!)

2. READ 20 BOOKS | Even though I don’t know what to expect this summer, I still want to make time to read. I have a huge stack of TBRs that need some attention in addition to the new releases I am excited about.

3. PLAN 3 DAY TRIPS WITH LIAM | Our travel plans have been bumfoozled this year, so I am looking for new ways to create adventures with Liam. We have plans to visit the Infinity Science Center (near Stennis Space Center, so we will probably go there too), and I am looking for a few more ideas. I would also like to take him to the MS Gulf Coast for a weekend to visit the children’s museum and new aquarium. New Orleans may still be an option too. I would love to hear your recommendations for day trips with toddlers.

4. TAKE MORE WALKS | I walk/run nearly every single day, but I truly enjoy walking my Aussies (and Molly before she was injured) around sunset. There’s something so sweet and calming about my time with them.

5. TRY A FEW NEW RECIPES | I married a man who does not shy away from different foods. He loves anything ethnic, seafood, or down-home country cooking. I actually have plans to try out a walleye recipe tonight!

6. SPEND TIME WITH FRIENDS | I am so looking forward to adding girls’ nights (and date nights!) to my calendar very soon. I am such an extrovert, and I love going, doing, and being with people. I can’t wait to spend non-social distancing time together with my friends!

7. VISIT THE LAKE FOR A WEEKEND | We always enjoy heading to Lake Enid with our family every year, and we are looking forward to doing that soon. I would also like to go camping at another state park this year too if time permits.
