Dad’s Retirement Party

Hey friends!

Thanks for stopping by today. I am in the booming metropolis of Kosciusko, MS today training a nursing home, so today’s post is short and sweet. Y’all know I don’t know how to keep anything short (let alone sweet!), but I’m going to give it a try.

Dad retired last month after 43 years! That’s a long time for anything, let alone a job. Of course this time was spent in several different offices in Mississippi, but the majority of his time was spent in Lamar County.

I heart Lamar County for so many reasons, and my dad loves it too! He began his career with the USDA and upon retiring from his federal position, he went to work for the state Soil and Water Conservation District. In the same office. Did not even have to change chairs. Couldn’t be easier could it? Here’s a quick look at his big day…

Liam and I arrived early, and he had to have a little snack before showing everyone how cute he is.

Case in point!

Shoutout to the sweet lady holding Liam – she worked alongside my dad for 30 years.

Bless. Her. Heart.

This cake basically says “I’m an Agronomist.”

Several of his friends stopped by for cake – I mean – to wish him well!

I thought this was the cutest guest book ever! Dad made the birdhouse (he’s made dozens, if not hundred over the years), and everyone signed it. I traced Liam’s handprint to mark his place of honor!

Well, congrats, Daddy! I hope retirement is everything you want it to be. I have a feeling I’m going to see a lot more of him soon. He has free time, and I have his grandson. I know where he’s going to be!
