McClain Safari Adventure

It’s a new week, the weather is getting cooler, and Liam and I are having the best time enjoying our Fall O’Fun.

If you’re new to the blog, the Fall O’Fun is something I’ve been doing for years (dragging Judson along), and now I finally have the best little partner in crime to adventure with. We Fall hard in our family – baking, crafting, enjoying family time, and our big adventures.

So far this year we have enjoyed a community fireworks show, family movie night, a trip to Landrum’s Homestead, and so much more! This past weekend we visited the McClain Safari in Brandon, MS. Friends, there is so much to see and do in Mississippi if you look for it.

Here’s a little look at our safari adventure…

I had to wake Liam a little earlier than he would have liked, but we were up and at ‘em and headed to Brandon. But first…

we picked up Grandmommy Bounds!

They checked out all the indoor creatures while I stood in line for Safari tickets.

The safari covers approximately 2,000 acres in Rankin county. You stay in your car and drive around at 5-10 mph because…

You get to feed the animals! As you’re following the path, all sorts of creatures come up to the vehicle to say hi and get some snacks. Every passenger in the car gets a large cup of food included with admission.

We were allowed to take Liam out of his safety seat and let him experience things up close and personal. He couldn’t sit still. (Notice his safari shorts?!)

Grandmama was more popular with the animals than me.

She literally had them fighting each other for her food.

This little fella (lady?) pecked her when the cup was empty.

After the safari you can enter the petting zoo. Of course cows are Liams favorites right now!

But my favorite part was the giraffe experience. You get to go up on the platform and hand-feed and pet the giraffes. How cool!

We became close friends!

If you’re ever looking for a fun family outing, I highly recommend McClain Safari Park. We love our Mississippi, and I am always looking for fun adventures for my family. Is there a place you’ve visited that we should try? I have a list of ideas, and I welcome yours too!

Happy Fall, y’all!
